Insulin resistance as link between polycystic ovary syndrome and cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction
Abstract
Tekin et al. have shown that polycystic ovary syndrome is associated with an impaired autonomic neural control of the cardiovascular system, characterized by a depressed heart rate variability. Little is known on the mechanisms underlying this association. I propose insulin resistance as a possible link between polycystic ovary syndrome and autonomic cardiovascular function.
