Abstract

Tekin et al. have shown that polycystic ovary syndrome is associated with an impaired autonomic neural control of the cardiovascular system, characterized by a depressed heart rate variability. Little is known on the mechanisms underlying this association. I propose insulin resistance as a possible link between polycystic ovary syndrome and autonomic cardiovascular function.
